This magnificent, recently renovated, late 19th-century hall was inspired by the Pavillon Baltard in Paris. the cast-iron columns and huge skylights. The building&#8217;s facings and stones come from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/en\/alentours\/camping-bayonne-cote-basque\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/en\/alentours\/camping-bayonne-cote-basque\/\">Bayonne<\/a> and La <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/alentours\/le-petit-train-de-la-rhune\/\" data-type=\"alentours\" data-id=\"630\">Rhune<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What an atmosphere! All the warmth and generosity of the Basque Country is expressed here, in the stalls. Here you&#8217;ll find the freshest fruit and vegetables, as well as Basque gastronomic staples such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/en\/alentours\/camping-espelette-pays-basque\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/en\/alentours\/camping-espelette-pays-basque\/\">Espelette<\/a> chillies, ham, sheep&#8217;s and cow&#8217;s milk cheeses, and fish freshly caught by local fishermen. A food market is held in front of and around the halls on Tuesday and Friday mornings, increasing the number of stalls to everyone&#8217;s delight. A <strong>must-see in Saint Jean de Luz.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First tip: park behind the SNCF station, in the large parking lot. You&#8217;re sure to pass<strong>Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church<\/strong>, where King Louis XIV was married in 1660. If you&#8217;re a singing enthusiast, don&#8217;t hesitate to ask at the Tourist Office (next to the market), as the church hosts a number of concerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This pedestrian street begins at <strong>Place Louis XIV<\/strong>. A magnificent square, home to the town hall, facing the fishing port. With the Maison de l&#8217;Infante in the background and the colorful boats perfectly aligned in the foreground, this is THE postcard photo of your Basque vacation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second tip: try the real <strong>macaroons from Chez Adam<\/strong>, one of Saint Jean de Luz&#8217;s gourmet specialties. The macaron is a sweet, chewy almond delight, to enjoy on the spot or to take away (perfect for a souvenir gift!). Founded in 1660, it&#8217;s a veritable institution: you can choose from chocolates, rochers, Basque cakes&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"la-baie-de-saint-jean-de-luz\">The bay of Saint Jean de Luz<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From here, you can walk up Rue de la R\u00e9publique, with its many restaurants, to the <strong>beach<\/strong>. Protected by 3 dikes, the bay is quiet and popular with families all year round. If you like walking, you can climb to the top of <strong>Sainte Barbe hill<\/strong>, to the right of the bay. There are play areas for the little ones, and a little white chapel sits at the top of the hill. From up there, a breathtaking view awaits you, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/en\/alentours\/camping-ciboure-cote-basque\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.camping-eskualduna.fr\/en\/alentours\/camping-ciboure-cote-basque\/\">Ciboure<\/a> on one side, with the mountains in the background, and the lined dykes of St Barbe, Artha and Socoa on the other, with the sea and the Basque Coast in the background. Don&#8217;t forget your camera, as this is the <strong>strategic spot for suns<\/strong> ets!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"la-pelote-basque-ou-cesta-punta\">Basque pelota or Cesta Punta<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to discover another aspect of Basque culture, or a Basque sport, take in a game of <strong>Cesta Punta<\/strong>. They take place at the <strong>Ja\u00ef Ala\u00ef in St Jean de Luz<\/strong>. International tournaments are held throughout the summer. Basque pelota is very popular in the region, and the Cesta Punta will surprise you with its speed. Powerful players don&#8217;t hesitate to jump off the wall, dive to the ground, to save points and try to win the game in front of packed stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"camping-a-st-jean-de-luz-decouvrir-les-fetes-de-saint-jean-de-luz\">Camping in St Jean de Luz: discover the festivals of Saint Jean de Luz<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Like neighboring Ciboure If you&#8217;re in town on a Wednesday or Sunday evening in summer, don&#8217;t miss the famous &#8220;Nuit de la Sardine&#8221;, the tuna festival, the f\u00eate de la Mer, the f\u00eate de la rue de la r\u00e9publique, the f\u00eate de la St Jean&#8230; And if you&#8217;re in town on a Wednesday or Sunday evening in summer, don&#8217;t miss the  <strong>Toro de Fuego<\/strong>, followed by confetti fights&#8230; A magical moment for the whole family, and unforgettable memories guaranteed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year in June, Saint jean de Luz<strong> celebrates Saint Jean<\/strong>. The whole town, dressed in red and white, takes to the streets for five days of partying. All day and all night, the city resounds to the sounds of bandas and concerts in the squares. In a friendly atmosphere, you can enjoy <strong>Basque strength <\/strong>competitions for young and old, traditional entertainment, singing, dancing and dancing the night away. The festival is also an opportunity to get together with friends at one of the city&#8217;s fine restaurants to enjoy a delicious Pintxos.
